Race for Texas Governor gets Kinky
Kinky Friedman will run for Governor of Texas as an Independent in 2006.
"Kinky, 59, is serious about the governor's race. He hopes to campaign as a populist who will use his colorful image while borrowing a page or two from the campaign of California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (news) to build a voter base...
Kinky said country music greats Willie Nelson and Dwight Yoakam have pledged their support along with actors Robert Duval, Billy Bob Thorton and Johnny Depp."

Depp shoots new film in UK
Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp will be in the UK next month to film The Libertine, the real-life story of a debauched 17th Century poet.
Depp plays the Earl of Rochester, who died at 33 a physical wreck after a life of sexual and sensual excess.
John Malkovich - who developed the film through his Mr Mudd production company after playing the Earl on stage - plays Charles II in the $16m (£8.7m) project.
Samantha Morton co-stars as an actress with whom Rochester becomes enraptured.
